The turnover of the Golden Crown – Money Transfers system made 62 billion rubles in the first quarter of 2012
The Golden Crown – Money Transfers system boosts development even more actively than in 2011. At the end of the first quarter of 2012 the system turnover made 62 billion rubles, which is 75% more than in the same period last year. As compared to the first quarter of 2011 the number of transactions increased by 70% and exceeded 4.6 million transactions. Over 1.2 million Sender Cards were issued during the reporting period.
The highlight of the first quarter of 2012 was the increase of the turnover within Russia, which made 80%. The dynamic development in the Russia-to-Russia corridor was caused by linking of Russia’s major banks to the service. AK BARS BANK OJSC, MTS-Bank OJSC, Bank ZENIT, Ural Bank for Reconstruction and Development OJSC, Rossiysky Capital JSCB OJSC and other banks became the System new partners. Only from January to March 2012, 19 Russian and CIS banks joined the system.
“The performance at the beginning of the year sets the pace of development for the whole year,” comments Ivan Sitnov, Director of the system, on the quarterly report. “During this period, the office network has grown vigorously, which is one of the service advantages for clients. We consider we have almost completed a network in the CIS and Georgia that is comfortable for clients. In this respect the start of cooperation with Georgia’s leading financial institution – Bank of Georgia in the first quarter of this year was very important for us, this doubled the service infrastructure in the country. Positive dynamics in the network growth and in the turnover is also observed in the Ukraine, where the scope of the System transfers grew 2.5 times as compared to the first quarter of 2011. We are changing our priorities to development of the service network within Russia, cooperation with major Russian banks and further improvement of technologies.”
